Does God Still Answer Prayer?

To ask this question is actually to doubt the existence of God Himself. To this statement, many might say, “Nate, how could you say such a thing!?” I can, because God has stated in His Word that He has, does and will answer prayer. Luke 20:38 comes to mind which says,

For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

If Christ dwells in you and He is Lord of your life, you will NOT doubt God’s ability to answer prayer. The only reason why we doubt God’s ability to answer prayer is because we take the equation: [God = Answered Prayer] and add to it: [God + ME = Answered Prayer]. We say that we believe that God answers prayer, but at the same time we believe that we have to help in order for Him to keep His Word.

Whatever happened to faith? Are we really believers? We live in such a pampered age, that we Christians believe that we don’t even really need God until devastation strikes. Then when it does, we wonder where God is and why He does not “answer” prayer in that moment. Brothers and Sisters, just as surely as Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of God the Father and lives eternally, we also live in Him and are positioned within Him at the right hand of the Father!

Why do I say all this? Well, I wanted to share a quick testimony of how God recently answered a prayer that I had been praying for quite some time.

In the last couple of years, I have come to the realization that I could use a car. During this time, there were many possibilities, but I never had a peace on pursuing any of them. I would often go to my Dad for counsel, and he would remind me that unless I needed one, I shouldn’t get it. He clarified this by stating that in the long run, getting a vehicle before really needing it would just be a waste of time and money. With this counsel, I was completely fine with not having a vehicle, because I knew God would provide in HIS timing.

As the thought of a vehicle returned to my mind, I would continually roll this burden upon the Lord. But then came the time, Kingdom timing, and God provided! Someone had just attained a new car and asked my Dad if he would like to have his other car. Dad had no need for an extra vehicle and knew that I had been praying for one, so he told the person about me. In short, a couple of months later I was given a 1999, Toyota Camry which had been kept in excellent condition!

I truly thank the Lord for this answer to prayer, but at the same time know that this is not all that He desires to do in the life of one who is totally surrendered to His Kingship. He has SO MUCH in store for those who simply wait upon Him. He is trustworthy and therefore worthy of our trust.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
